Distance 9.2 km
Parking at the top of Limefield Brow next to the playing field you'll want to walk onto the field and immediately walk up the steep hill to the left of the field. When you reach the top turn left and follow the track (keeping the farm house immediately on your left).
Follow the track up hill, passing the golf course on your left, crossing the motorway bridge and following the track round to the right hand side. As you reach the first mile you'll come to the end of that track with an option to go left or right. Take the left path. You'll walk through the chicken farm and as you exit the other side at the top of the hill turn right. As you descend this hill you'll quickly notice a long driveway on the left, follow the drive through the equestrian centre, keep going up through the farm and you'll see it forks to the right, there is an unmarked public footpath that goes through, you'll soon come to the gate where the path continues.
Follow this path to the end and you'll reach The Rhiddings, Birtle. Turn left up the steep hill and you'll eventually reach the Tea Room at the top of the hill. Continue along this path for the elevated views, it will fork round to the left, keep following the track. You will go through a couple of gates and pass a few Cows, the path is clear.
As you go through the gate after the farm house asking you to keep horses off the grass you can either follow the road to the left or take the narrow gravel track to the right (not the one with the stile). Take that narrow gravel track. Follow it to the end and it will bring you out onto a paved farm track as you approach another farmhouse. Follow this path and turn left to go down the hill.
Go all the way down the hill and fork off to the left following the sign for Walmsley Golf Club then after a short distance take the right hand turn under the motorway bridge. This will bring you out onto a residential estate. Keep left and head straight down the unpaved track, you'll pass Windacre Nursery on your left. Continue straight down Mather Road until you reach the main road then take the first left back onto Limefield Brow.
